01Who we are and what this covers
Shovarma Tavern ("Shovarma Tavern", "we", "us", "our") is a Nigerian-inspired street food kitchen operating in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. These Terms & Conditions govern your use of this website and any order you place through it.
By browsing this site, adding items to your cart, or submitting an order, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not place an order — call us instead and we will happily take it over the phone.
Order food, we cook it, you pay for it, everyone is happy. The rest of this page is the detail behind that.
02Placing an order
When you submit an order through this site, you are making an offer to purchase. Your order is not confirmed until we accept it — which we do by contacting you to confirm details and payment. An on-screen confirmation or order number is an acknowledgement that we received your request, not an acceptance of it.
We may decline or cancel an order for reasons including:
- An item has sold out or is unavailable that day
- We cannot reach you at the phone number or email you provided
- The delivery address falls outside the area we serve
- A pricing or product description error appeared on the site
- We reasonably suspect fraudulent or abusive use
If we decline an order you have already paid for, we will refund it in full.
03Prices, taxes and fees
All prices are shown in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are exclusive of tax unless stated otherwise.
- GST is applied at 5% on your subtotal, in line with Canadian federal tax rules.
- Delivery carries a flat fee of $10.00 where delivery is available. Pickup orders carry no delivery fee.
Menu prices, portion sizes and availability may change without notice. The price that applies to your order is the price displayed at the moment you submit it.
If an item is listed at an obviously incorrect price because of a technical or human error, we are not obliged to honour that price. We will contact you, explain the error, and give you the choice to proceed at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
04Payment
Payment is arranged after you submit your order. Depending on how you order, we may send you a secure payment link, take payment on pickup, or collect payment on delivery.
We never ask for your full card number by email, text or phone. If you receive a message claiming to be from Shovarma Tavern asking for card details, banking credentials or a password, do not respond — contact us directly on the number listed on this site.
Card payments are processed by third-party payment providers. We do not store your full card number on our systems.
05Pickup and delivery
Pickup
We will let you know when your order is ready. Please collect it within a reasonable time — hot food left waiting is not the meal we want you to have. Orders uncollected at the end of the service day may be disposed of without refund.
Delivery
Delivery is available to addresses within our serving area in and around Edmonton. Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees. Traffic, weather, order volume and kitchen demand all affect timing, and Edmonton winters are honest about this.
You are responsible for providing an accurate, complete address and a reachable phone number. If our driver cannot reach you or access the address after reasonable attempts, the order may be treated as delivered and no refund will be issued.
Please tell us about gate codes, buzzers, unit numbers or anything else a driver needs. The delivery notes field exists for exactly this.
06Changes, cancellations and refunds
Because every order is cooked fresh to order, our window for changes is short.
- Before we start cooking: contact us right away and we will change or cancel the order at no charge.
- Once cooking has started: we generally cannot cancel, because the food has been made for you.
If something is wrong with your order — an item missing, the wrong dish, or food that did not arrive in good condition — contact us the same day so we can put it right. Depending on the situation we may offer a replacement, a partial refund, or a full refund.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method and may take several business days to appear, depending on your bank.
We cannot offer refunds simply because a dish was not to your personal taste, though we always want to hear about it — that feedback is how the menu improves.
07Allergens and dietary information
Our kitchen handles peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, eggs, gluten, soy, sesame, fish and shellfish. We cannot guarantee that any dish is free from any allergen.
Ingredient lists and dish descriptions on this site are provided in good faith and for general guidance. Recipes, suppliers and preparation methods can change.
Because we cook in a shared kitchen, cross-contamination is possible on every item we serve. If you have a food allergy, intolerance or a medical dietary requirement, please contact us directly before ordering so we can discuss it honestly with you. If we cannot serve you safely, we will tell you so.
You are responsible for telling us about allergies before you order. We cannot take responsibility for a reaction to an allergy we were never told about.
08Ember Rewards
Ember Rewards is our loyalty program. You earn 5 Embers for every CA$1 of eligible order subtotal. Embers unlock rewards as your balance grows.
Your Ember balance is currently saved in your own web browser, not in an account on our servers. That means it is tied to the specific browser and device you order from.
As a practical consequence of the above, your balance will be lost if you clear your browser data, use private or incognito browsing, switch to a different browser, or order from another device. We are not able to restore a balance lost this way, and we cannot look it up for you.
Further terms:
- Embers hold no cash value and cannot be sold, transferred or exchanged for money
- Taxes, delivery fees, gratuities and certain promotional items are not eligible for earning
- Embers earned on a cancelled or refunded order may be reversed
- We may change earning rates, reward tiers, or end the program at any time
- We may withdraw rewards where we reasonably believe the program is being abused
09Promotions and discount codes
Promotional offers and discount codes are subject to any conditions stated with the offer. Unless we say otherwise:
- One code per order, and codes cannot be combined
- Codes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money
- Codes apply to the eligible subtotal, not to taxes or delivery fees
- Offers may be withdrawn or changed at any time
- Codes are for personal use and may not be resold
10Using this website
You may browse this site and place orders for your own personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
- Place fraudulent, false or deliberately abusive orders
- Interfere with, probe or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems
- Use automated tools to scrape, copy or harvest content from the site
- Copy or reuse our menu content, photography or branding for a competing business
- Submit anyone else's personal information without their permission
We may suspend access or refuse service to anyone who breaches these terms.
11Our content
The Shovarma Tavern name, logo, menu descriptions, food photography, artwork and the design of this site are our property or used by us under licence, and are protected by Canadian and international intellectual property law.
You may share links to our pages freely — we would love that. You may not reproduce, republish or commercially reuse our content without our written permission.
12Third-party services and links
This site links to third-party platforms including Instagram and TikTok, and may use third-party services for analytics, payments and order handling. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for the content, practices or availability of third-party sites. A link from our site is not an endorsement.
13Availability and accuracy
We work to keep this site accurate and available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every menu item shown will be in stock on any given day.
Food photography is presented for illustration. Real plates vary — portioning is done by human hands, and that is rather the point of a kitchen like ours.
We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of this site or the menu at any time without notice.
14Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Canadian or Alberta law. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including lost profit, lost opportunity or missed events arising from a late or incorrect order
- Our total liability in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order
- We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, power or network outages, supplier failure, labour disruption or public health measures
15Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the moment you place an order is the version that applies to that order.
The effective date at the top of this page tells you when it was last revised. We recommend a quick look before ordering if it has been a while.
16Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta.
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
